The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), which is responsible for domestic weather forecasting in the country, has announced that it has drafted a new law to try and prevent unauthorised weather forecasting, which is a growing issue in Egypt.
The EMA is currently preparing the new bill, which will be presented to Parliament in the coming weeks. The EMA is the only body entitled to issue weather reports in the country. According to Ahmed Abdel Aal, the head of the EMA, the new law seeks “to hold accountable unauthorised weather forecasts and the use of meteorological instruments and those causing confusion about weather conditions”. - May 2018
