Terminal Doppler Lidar

Available to view for the first time at Meteorological Technology World Expo, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (MELCO) will showcase its newly developed planar waveguide amplifier that extends the observation range of a Doppler lidar to more than 20km (12 miles), while still ensuring compliance with the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
MELCO has been delivering terminal Doppler lidar systems to airports since 2015, with systems in operation at Tokyo and Narita airports in Japan, Hong Kong International Airport in China, and Antalya Airport in Turkey. Another three terminal Doppler lidar systems are scheduled to be delivered to Beijing Daxing International Airport in China, Kansai International Airport in Japan, and Nice Côte d’Azur Airport in France this year.
